What are Cable Clips? Your guess was as good as mine until about four months ago. November was when I came onto the TekBotic team. My incredible boyfriend Mateo asked me to be his head shot caller and moved a second desk into his office so we could work together. Keep in mind through all of this; I am extremely particular about how my desk is arranged. Nothing can go on it that is a waste of space; i.e., file basket, papers, tape, stapler, you name it, can't be on my desk.
As Mateo is being the nicest man, moving a computer monitor to my desk for me, along with all the other desk necessities; he goes over to this box on the bookshelf and pulls out these very odd little black, gummy, disks. He starts approaching my desk with them! Me being the OCD desk minimalist I am, I immediately stop him and ask what he is doing to my very clean white desk that only my succulent "Fleur" inhabits. Then the moment that can be compared to a thousand light bulbs going off at once happened.
Cable Clips are these very minimal little black silicon adhesive pads that have two grooved sections in them for you to put your cables through and stick to anything (yes I mean anything)! So, you know when you have a desk with a computer, and a mouse, and a phone, and an essential oil diffuser, and a printer, and anything else you can think of that has a cord of some kind? Yeah, you can keep all those miscellaneous cords from running in 50 different directions on your desk getting tangled into balls that my cats like to bat at with these things.
He showed me that you could stick the adhesive pads to the bottom of your desk, so all the cords go in one direction off the back or side of your desk. Then you can even run these cables along the back edge of your desk, even down the leg of your desk, all nice and straight and firmly held, directly to the outlet. I can't tell you how many times I've launched my mouse off my desk because my foot gets tangled in the cable while I'm moving my feet under my desk. Well not anymore, take that stupid cable!
Fun fact, remember how I mentioned that you can put these things anywhere? Well, I did! I use them in my car to hold my charger against the dash, so I don't unplug it every time I reach for my phone to change the music. I use them in the kitchen, so I can run various cords from my electric tea kettle, egg poacher, etc. along the edge of the counter instead of having them haphazardly scattered across the surface. This is extremely useful since me being the klutz that I am, would eventually drop a cleaver on a cord and then knock a glass of water over on it and electrocute myself. Thank you Cable Clips for saving my klutzy life every day, I love you.
